Editorial policy

The Editorial Board of the UNESCO Chair Journal "Lifelong Professional Education in the XXI Century" acts in accordance with the following rules:

  • Compliance with the requirements of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), and the Berlin Declaration Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities;
  • Adherence to editorial independence;
  • Priority of discussions and debates;
  • Conflicts of interest resolution in accordance with the developed mechanism;
  • Academic integrity promotion and support;
  • Preference for intellectual standards and scientific quality over financial and political gain and business reasons;
  • Satisfaction of Authors and Readers` needs and interests;
  • Systematical improvement of the UNESCO Chair Journal;
  • Published material quality assurance;
  • Anonymity provision in the system of "Author - Reviewer(s)" interaction;
  • Provision of Authors with information about the publication rules and requirements;
  • Ensuring academic paper Authors` rights to the freedom of expression;
  • Intellectual property right enforcement;
  • Development of manuscript review recommendations and rules;
  • Development of mechanisms for conflicts of interest resolution;
  • Prompt publication of corrections, clarifications, refutations, and apologies, if necessary;
  • Ensuring the right to appeal;
  • Adherence to tolerance in communication.

In its interaction with Authors, the UNESCO Chair Journal Editorial Board is guided by the following rules:

  • taking all necessary measures to ensure the quality of materials submitted and accepted for publication;
  • ensuring compliance with the established paper review mechanisms, as well as refuting or revoking decisions;
  • notification of the manuscript author of the acceptance of the paper, or the need for revision, or the rejection of the article;
  • provision of a reasoned expert assessment description of the paper submitted for publication.

In its interaction with Reviewers, the the UNESCO Chair Journal Editorial Board is guided by the following rules:

  • presents to Reviewers instructions and recommendations for reviewing papers;
  • provides Reviewers with a system of the article plagiarism checking;
  • guarantees for Reviewers a confidentiality;
  • represents the possibility to refuse review without explaining the reasons for refusal (except for the established conflict of interest);
  • considers peer-reviewing as an integral part of the evaluation of a scientific publication, which confirms the high quality of scientific articles.

In its interaction with Readers, the UNESCO Chair Journal Editorial Board is guided by the following rules:

  • Any reader or potential author has the opportunity to contact the editorial board members for the clarification of unclear professional issues that correspond to the scope of the UNESCO Chair Journal sending an e-mail to unesco-journal@ukr.net
  • The Editorial Office informs readers at whose expense the article was published on the role of sponsors in conducting the research presented in it (if this information is provided by the Author in the submitted article);
  • The Editorial Office provides readers with materials designed well in intellectual, conceptual, linguistic and stylistic aspects ;
  • It meets readers` needs for materials of both fundamental and applied nature, in theoretical and practical dimensions;
  • It meets readers` real expectations of the originality, novelty, and relevance of materials, their readability and clarity.
